Ferry Signal

About Ferry Signal

Ferry Signal shows live vehicle-space data for Washington State Ferries' reservable routes and sends free email reminders when seasonal reservation windows open.

Where the data comes from

Sailing-space counts come from WSDOT's public Traveler API — the same feed behind the terminal reader boards — checked once a minute, with the time of the last check shown next to the data. Reservation-opening dates come from operator announcements. Attribution: Data source — WSDOT Traveler API.

Accuracy

Counts are the operator's live estimates of remaining spaces on each departure, not vessel capacity. They can change between our check and your arrival at the terminal. A dash means WSDOT isn't publishing that count for the sailing, which is different from zero; oversold sailings display as zero. Historical charts state the date their observation window began.

What it does

A live board of today's sailings with drive-up and reservable counts; a calendar of reservation openings with a subscribable .ics feed; and email reminders — one the day before an opening, one 15 minutes before. Reservable counts link directly to WSF's Save A Spot booking site. Ferry Signal holds no user accounts, stores no operator logins, and takes no payments; alerts contain no advertising, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe.

Independence

Ferry Signal is an independent site and is not affiliated with WSDOT or Washington State Ferries.
